Biography

Dr. Bhanwar Lal Puniya is a Research Assistant Professor in Biochemistry Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before this position, Dr. Puniya was a postdoctoral research associate in the same department from 2015 to 2020. Dr. Puniya completed his doctoral studies in 2015 at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Dr. Puniya's educational background also includes a master's degree in Microbiology from the University of Rajasthan that he completed in 2007. Dr. Puniya has more than ten years of experience working in computational biology and systems biology fields.

Research

Dr. Puniya's primary research interest lies in comprehending the role of immunometabolism in human diseases and uncovering pivotal molecular mechanisms that contribute to the development and progression of diseases.

His focus centers on translational research, employing computational biology and systems approaches. By harnessing large-scale data, including genomics and transcriptomics, he integrates and constructs computational models to gain a mechanistic understanding of biological systems and advance drug discovery for human immune-related diseases. He also develops algorithms and innovative approaches to integrate high-throughput biological datasets and models seamlessly. Recognizing the immense potential embedded within complex biological datasets, he strives to extract meaningful biological insights and unveil hidden information.

By integrating diverse data types and models, Dr. Puniya enables comprehensive analyses that aid in discovering novel biomarkers, disease mechanisms, and potential therapeutic strategies. His research endeavors contribute to the ongoing pursuit of improved diagnostics, effective treatments, and better patient outcomes in human diseases.
